Kitchen flooring takes more daily abuse than almost any other surface in your home β water, dropped pans, foot traffic β so material choice and installation quality both matter more here than in most rooms. We install porcelain and ceramic tile, engineered and solid hardwood, and luxury vinyl plank (LVP), and we'll talk through which fits your kitchen's moisture exposure, your budget, and whether it needs to tie visually into adjoining rooms.
Older Brooklyn buildings add a few real wrinkles most flooring contractors gloss over: subfloors that have settled unevenly over a century, older vinyl tile that may need asbestos testing before removal, and, in co-ops and condos, building rules about impact and sound insulation between floors that can dictate what flooring types are even allowed. We address all of that upfront rather than discovering it once the old floor is already torn out.
Every flooring install includes proper subfloor prep and leveling, waterproofing at sinks and exterior doors, and clean transitions at thresholds β the details that determine whether a kitchen floor lasts fifteen years or starts failing in three.
For clients who want a lower-impact material, we also install cork and bamboo flooring, both of which hold up reasonably well in a kitchen when properly sealed and bring a warmer, softer underfoot feel than tile without the moisture concerns of solid hardwood.
